Oodaalolly and The MAP’D Project Release “Jeepney Sunsets” Art Bar Collection

Oodaalolly chocolate and The MAP’D Project come together to announce their first collaboration—a capsule collection featuring a limited edition “Art Bar” and related merchandise featuring an illustration by Arlene Basilio.

SAN FRANCISCO, California - Oodaalolly, the Swiss-Filipino chocolate brand, announces “Jeepney Sunsets,” the third in Oodaalolly’s Art Bar initiative wherein the company invites an artist to exhibit their work on a special edition chocolate bar.

This collection features the work of Filipina-American artist Arlene Basilio, the founder and creative visionary behind The MAP’D Project—a venue she created to uplift, empower, and cultivate pride for Filipino culture and Filipino-inspired designs.

“I created MAP’D as a platform for the nomadic, the wandering, purpose-driven soul with a unique story to tell,” says Basilio. “Here, you’re the creator, the captain, and you can think of us as your crewmates.”

Jeepney Sunsets, the name of the piece, is evocative and aspirational—a story open to interpretation with chapters as yet unwritten.  “When I look at Arlene’s piece,” notes Oodaalolly co-founder Jeremy Burnich, “I envision a P-Pop band—a bunch of badass ladies and know who they are, are proud of where they come from, and don’t care what you think about them one way or another. They’re the Jeepney Sunsets!”

In addition to Arlene’s illustration, the chocolate is one of a kind—lightly sweetened milk chocolate made with premium cacao from the Philippines. It also features intensely flavorful bites of pineapple and passionfruit inclusions.

For these unique ingredients, Oodaalolly tapped Mavuno Harvest, a company founded on empowering others through economic development, sustainable agriculture, and the idea that all humans are connected—principles entirely in alignment with Oodaalolly’s practices and Arlene’s vision for MAP’D.

This collaboration also features Oodaalolly’s first artist-designed logo, appearing on the box itself and clothing pictured in the illustration. As a kind of “band merch,” those same shirts are available IRL, featuring Arlene’s Oodaaloly logo on the front and the MAP’D logo on the reverse. And, of course, the keys to your Jeepney need a chain, so a limited availability version is also part of this collection.

Oodaalolly is extremely proud to have worked with Arlene on this Art Bar. It’s our way to showcase our pride in Filipino culture, artists, and spark imaginations.

Jeepney Sunsets goes on sale Thursday, September 22, 2022.
