Rafikimono

Rafael Fuchs-Simon and Shaun Sager founded manila-based Rafikimono, and they have curated quite a collection of beautiful and eye-catching products made using fabric hand selected in local markets worldwide.

Each garment is designed for versatility, practicality, and comfort. And luckily, they ship fast to the US. Jeremy got one of the kimonos for his wife, and she loves it!


MASAYA

Set along Pine Avenue in Long Beach is an experiential design space called MASAYA. Meaning ‘joyful’ in Tagalog, this shop combines men’s clothing and home décor blended with weekend workshops and a network of artist collaboratives. The brainchild of proprietor and owner Rich Rodriguez, former marketing communications manager at Dunn-Edwards.

And you can also pick up a few bars of Oodaalolly while you’re checking out.

Ila Manila is the distillation of the 15 years of experience and with a mission to serve as a point of connection between cultures and generations.

Ate Ethel's Fond Memories

Ethel Martinez is the shop owner of Ate Ethel's Fond Memories and is a 2nd Generation Filipino-American.

She’s been a professional graphic designer for over 20 years and has worked/contracted for companies such as Papyrus and Starbucks.

Ethel is an illustrative designer who enjoys creating artwork that speaks of nostalgia, history, and imagination that represent her love for the Filipinx community.


Filipinta Beauty

A Filipina-owned beauty brand that aims to celebrate Philippine culture, all while enhancing and embracing the unique, distinct beauty of every Filipina. 

What started as a passion project in 2019 became a thriving small business with a wonderful community rallying behind it.

Jme Foronda

An illustrator of Filipino culture and fantastical things. She draws inspiration from her massive collection of children’s books, art books, graphic novels, and Filipiñana.

Born and raised in Manila, started drawing pretty early, and has written and illustrated a book at the age of 6. Jme has worked in animation, game development, corporate graphics, and freelanced various projects on the side.


Kasama Rum

We had to have Kasama on our list!

Founder is the daughter of a vodka distiller but blazing her own path with the Sunshine Spirit!

“The rum is sourced from the Philippines, bottled in my family’s distillery in Poland, and then shipped to the US to be enjoyed. I think it’s so fun to connect the three countries I’m from in this unique way.”

Kasama is aged for seven years in old bourbon American oak barrels, which lends a mellow vanilla flavor and peppery finish.

Nat Lamina

Nat is a Filipino-Canadian artist, based in Manitoba, Canada.

Lamina’s art is known for his classical aesthetic, reminiscent of classic Renaissance paintings.

Born and raised in the Philippines, he recently started painting Filipino-related subjects from the pre-colonial period including local Filipino myths.

Lamina fuses traditional Western painting techniques with Southeastern Asian motifs.

Willy Santos has been part of the street skating scene for fifteen years.

He has not only acquired his own pro model decks from Birdhouse, he also has his own shoe from Vans, as well as his own skateboard called Willy's Workshop.

And we met him and can definitively say, he’s a fun dude!

Launched in 2013 by siblings Cara and Rocco Sumabat, HaloHalo features an assortment of bags made out of recycled banig — a handwoven mat commonly found in Filipino homes for sleeping and sitting.

The halohalo world comprises of three brands: halohalohome, halohalobags, and GoodTimes.
